HP Spectre x360 15-ch011dx Teardown Guide

Introduction:

• Objective: Disassemble HP Spectre x360 (Model: 15-ch011dx) to address a swollen battery issue.
• Scope: Guide covers steps to access and replace key components including the battery, motherboard, heatsink, RAM, and more.

Tools Required:

• Phillips screwdriver
• T5 Torx screwdriver
• Plastic prying tool

Disassembly Steps:

1. Removing Rubber Stoppers and Screws:

• Remove rubber stoppers at the back to expose hidden screws.
• Use Phillips and T5 Torx screwdrivers for different screws.

2. Removing the Back Plate:

• Gently pry open and remove the back plate.

3. Battery Removal:

• Notice the swollen battery pushing against the back plate.
• Remove screws securing the battery and carefully lift it out.

4. Disconnecting Cables:

• Disconnect various cables including those for keyboard lighting, touchpad, SD card reader, and speakers.
• Carefully flip open cable clippers where needed.

5. Removing the CPU Fan:

• Unscrew the fan and disconnect its cable.
• Good opportunity to clean the fan if dusty.

6. Accessing RAM and SSD:

• Remove cover protecting the RAM and SSD.
• Two RAM slots with DDR4 RAM available for upgrade or replacement.
• M.2 SSD drive can also be replaced or upgraded.

7. Wi-Fi Card Removal:

• Unscrew and remove the Wi-Fi card if needed.

8. LCD Screen Disconnection:

• Remove screws from hinges.
• Open LCD to 180 degrees to access and disconnect cables.

9. Motherboard Removal:
