Giving Back: Changing an iPhone 8 Plus Screen for a Loyal Subscriber

Hello tech enthusiasts! Today, I have a special repair story to share with you.

Meeting a Loyal Subscriber

I had the opportunity to meet a YouTuber. It was intriguing to see how much he’d grown from his younger videos. But what warmed my heart was finding out he was a subscriber to my channel. In a world of countless creators and streams of content, knowing someone chooses to follow your work is truly special.

Because of his gesture, I decided to give back in the best way I knew how.

The Problem: An Unreliable Screen

The device in question was an iPhone 8 Plus. Sometimes the touchscreen worked like a charm, and sometimes… well, it was as responsive as a rock. It was evident from the wear and tear that this phone had seen better days, likely a result of a drop or a bump. But regardless of the reason, it was time for a makeover.

The Process: Screen Replacement

Step 1: Power Down Always start by turning off the phone. Safety first!

Step 2: Unscrewing the Bottom With the phone off, I removed the two screws located at the bottom.

Step 3: Adhesive & Screen Removal The iPhone 8 Plus has an adhesive that helps bind the screen to the frame. I gently cut through this before prying the screen open. Note: There are five screws in total holding the screen, with the one at the bottom left being significantly longer.

Step 4: Transferring the Original Components When changing the iPhone screen, it’s crucial to transfer the proximity sensor, the front camera, and the ear speaker from the old screen to the new one. These are original components, and moving them ensures the phone functions correctly.

Also, never forget the home button! That was transferred over too.

Step 5: Reassembly With everything in place on the new screen, I began the process of reassembling the phone. This involves several screws and brackets that need to be secured in precise locations.

Step 6: Powering On and Final Checks After the internal components were secured, it was time to power the phone on and run a few tests.

And finally, the last two screws went in, sealing the phone and concluding the replacement process.

Conclusion:

It’s not every day that I offer to change phone screens for free, but for someone who’s shown support and brings positive energy, it’s the least I can do.
