How to Replace iPhone 7 Battery

Materials Needed:

1. iPhone 7 with a worn-out battery.
2. Replacement battery (original or third-party).
3. Pentalobe P2 0.8 screwdriver.
4. Metal prying tool.
5. Tri-point Y0.6 screwdriver.
6. Phillips 1.5 screwdriver.
7. Plastic prying tool.
8. Tweezers.
9. Double-sided adhesive tape.

Procedure:

1. Phone Preparation:
   • Turn off your iPhone 7.
   • Using the Pentalobe P2 0.8 screwdriver, remove the two screws at the bottom near the charging port.
2. Screen Removal:
   • Insert a metal prying tool between the phone’s frame and screen. Carefully run it around the screen to cut the adhesive. Do not insert it too deep to avoid damaging the internals.
   • Remove the four screws using the Tri-point Y0.6 screwdriver. This will help you remove the bracket covering the battery connectors.
   • Using the plastic prying tool, carefully remove the bracket and disconnect the battery connectors.
   • Now, remove the two screws holding down the proximity sensor using the Phillips 1.5 screwdriver. Disconnect the sensor and carefully lift the screen off the phone.
3. Battery Removal:
   • To have better access, consider removing the three screws holding down the Taptic Engine.
   • Carefully peel off the adhesive strips holding the battery using tweezers. Ensure you’re not puncturing the battery. If the strip breaks, pull it out gently from the other side. Be patient, and if the adhesive doesn’t come off easily, gently heat it.
   • Once the adhesive is removed, lift the old battery out of the phone.
4. Installing the New Battery:
   • Place double-sided adhesive tape on the battery compartment. Leave some tape protruding for future ease of removal.
   • Position the new battery in place, ensuring the connectors are properly aligned.
   • Once satisfied with the battery’s position, press it down to secure it in place.
   • Reconnect the battery connectors and put back the bracket covering it. Screw it back into place using the Tri-point Y0.6 screwdriver.
5. Reinstalling the Screen:
   • Align the top of the screen with the frame and carefully push the rest of the screen into place.
   • Use the Pentalobe P2 0.8 screwdriver to put the two screws back at the bottom of the phone.
6. Final Steps:
   • Turn the phone on.
   • Charge it for 4-5 hours for a deep cycle charge.

Safety Note: Handle the battery with care. It has a potential for fire if punctured or mishandled. Dispose of the old battery properly, either by recycling or following local disposal guidelines.
