iPhone X Screen Replacement Guide

Overview

• Objective: Replace cracked screen of iPhone X (iPhone 10)
• Tools: Required tools and new screen can be purchased from Amazon or eBay.
• Note: Aftermarket screen may not support True Tone color.

Steps

Disassembly

1. Remove Bottom Screws: Start by removing the two screws at the bottom of the iPhone.
2. Cut Adhesive: Use a metal prying tool to gently cut through the adhesive around the screen. This adhesive is for water and dust resistance.
3. Open the Screen: Carefully lift and open the screen towards the right side, keeping the adhesive intact if possible.
4. Remove Internal Bracket: Use a Y-shaped screwdriver to remove screws and lift the bracket inside.
5. Disconnect the Battery: Carefully disconnect the battery to ensure safety during the replacement process.
6. Disconnect the Screen: Disconnect the two flex cables of the screen.
7. Remove Face ID Connector: There is an additional connector for Face ID to disconnect. Be cautious with the double-sided tape attaching it to other components.

Installation of New Screen

1. Remove Components from Old Screen: Gently pry out the camera and sensor assembly from the old screen using a metal prying tool. Transfer it to the new screen, ensuring alignment and secure attachment.
2. Attach Brackets and Screws: Replace the screws and brackets onto the new screen, carefully aligning them. Pay attention to screw lengths as they vary.
3. Reconnect Cables: Reattach the Face ID connector and screen cables to the motherboard.
4. Reconnect Battery: Carefully reconnect the battery.

Reassembly

1. Test the Screen: Before fully sealing the phone, power it on to check if the Apple logo appears, indicating a successful connection.
2. Replace Internal Bracket: Put back the internal bracket and secure it with screws. Remember, the middle screw is the longest.
3. Align and Seal the Screen: Start from the top, ensuring proper alignment, then gently press down the sides to clip the screen back into place.
4. Final Screws: Replace the two screws at the bottom of the iPhone.
